Curriculum Coherence or Curricular Chaos?

Thinking Deeply about Primary Education

Curriculum Coherence or Curricular Chaos?

Good Morning, TDaPE Massive.

This week on TDaPE, Stuart Welsh and I explored a recent paper delving into curriculum coherence which makes some bold claims about various national curricula and the state of mathematics education in general. Rather than just going through the paper in the episode, we used it as a jumping off point for a discussion around the potential implications for practice and subject leadership in the primary mathematics classroom.

Not sure how far anyone reads down this email but at the end, anyone interested in phonics/early reading will see an exciting message from TDaPE Conference sponsors, Sounds-Write.

In return for sharing this, I will receive 50% of any All Access Passes bought using the specific link pasted below but as Sounds Write are closely aligned with my vision for education and a valued sponsor of our charity conferences, I would recommend you attend this anyway. You can attend for free or, if your school wants access beyond the initial limit, you can get access to some high-quality CPD for next to nothing (relatively speaking). More info below.

I don’t expect I’ll share too many affiliate links going forward but this is a very rare occasion when the stars aligned on an advertising request in terms of pedagogical approach and the TDaPE mission.

Curriculum and Mathematical Coherence - Jana Višňovská and José Luis Cortina

The window for speaker proposals for TDaPE Cymru is still open. If you’re a teacher with something to share, then delivering a 40-minute workshop might be for you. The short proposal form can be found here. The window will remain open until the 25th of June - though we’ve only got roughly 6 places left before we reach capacity.

1/3 of the tickets for the day have gone in the first week too - so if you’re keen to go but haven’t persuaded your Head Teacher/Business manager to get your ticket yet, now is the time.
